MedVetPATHOGENS Vth Prato Conference on the Pathogenesis of Animal and Zoonotic Bacterial Infections will be held October 8-11 2018 in Prato, Tuscany, Italy.
The formerly known as VetPath conferences were initiated in 2010 by the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence in Structural and Functional Microbial Genomics to fill a major gap in the international conference spectrum. Meetings on bacterial pathogenesis usually have a focus on human pathogens, while fundamental molecular approaches are underrepresented in animal health focused conferences. This is paradoxical because, thanks to its diversity of host-pathogen-environment interactions, the veterinary field offers extraordinary research opportunities and comparative model systems for a comprehensive understanding of bacterial pathogenesis and pathogen evolution.
Following the great success of the preceding conferences, the fifth edition of MedVetPATHOGENS is planned for October 2018, to be once again held at the Monash University Centre in Prato, Tuscany, Italy. A cordial welcome is extended to join the 2018 MedVetPATHOGENS conference for a stimulating three days of bacterial pathogenesis with a veterinary edge. Although all aspects of bacterial pathogenesis and pathogen evolution will be covered as usual, the focus of this edition is on antimicrobial resistance.
